Studia Neoaristotelica is a new Czecho-Slovak scholarly philosophical journal focused on an Aristotelian type of philosophy broadly conceived, i. e. philosophy which seeks inspiration in both contemporary analytical philosophy and in its scholastic counterpart; the latter philosophy being not only medieval but especially that of the so-called second scholasticism of the 16th-17th centuries. The journal attempts to create a synthesis of these view-points. "Christian character" is not meant to suggest any dependence on Christian faith in content, rather, a motivation which stands in the background of philosophical effort, without impeding its autonomy. The contents of the journal issues consist especially of original philosophical studies, translations, discussions and reviews. It is the ambition of the journal to maintain the highest standards of scholarship. The original studies and translations proposed for publication undergo a review process by anonymous readers. Studia Neoaristotelica is issued twice a year; first issued in December 2004 (dual issue). Issued by South-Bohemian University in České Budějovice (Budweiss), Faculty of Theology, Department of philosophy and religious studies in cooperation with the Association of Philosophy Teachers at Faculties of Theology of the Czech Republic. Editorial board is presided over by Mgr. Petr Dvořák Ph.D. (since Fall 2008). Honorary president is Prof. PhDr. Stanislav Sousedík, CSc. ![]() Further information concerning the reasons for establishing the journal and the orientation of the journal is to be found in the Introductory Note by prof. Sousedík. |
